Big Partnership Announcement

It has been a hot minute (more like a good few months) since I posted last. The world has changed. COVID hit us like a ton of bricks and there has been much unrest in the US. Through all of this and adjusting to working from home with my full time gig (University Library Collection Specialist) my Beautycounter business has been a constant and fun distraction! So it is with great excitement that I share with you all an upcoming, limited time partnership with Sephora! You will be finding 11 of our products on the US site and in their stores. In Canada there will be 10 (no Dew Skin).

This is set to take place online in July and in stores in August. Oh, by the way, Sephora came to us with the idea. Looks like the clean beauty movement is growing!!!!

Right now on my site we are having our Friends & Family Sale!!! This sale runs till June 23rd. https://www.beautycounter.com/gracebissenden?https://www.beautycounter.com/gracebissenden?goto=/goto=/

Thanks so much for dropping by! Any questions, feel free to contact me!

If Heaven was a Mask….

As anyone can tell by my blog I am a woman OBSESSED with GREAT skincare and beauty products. My dear Grandmother taught me the importance of taking care of your skin (starting young) and how makeup can be a source of fun! With that little bit of history please understand that facial masks always remind me of Grandma. She loved a good mask! The mask I am about to review would be sheer joy to her I’m sure! Lealani Skincare is a brand I am fairly new to. I have tried only a couple other products by them and then heard about the Mermaid Mask and was immediately intrigued. First off, the color is emerald green (think Wicked Witch of the West, Elfaba to Wicked fans).

Crazy, right??? A GREEN mask? Oh yes!!! I followed the instructions to mix it thoroughly before applying it to my face (full disclosure, I made my Mom try it too). It has a very thick and somewhat gritty consistency and honestly feels decadent when applied. It is described as a “superfood purifying mask” made with Hawaiian spirulina, raw honey, chlorella and essential oils. As an aside, if you wind up eating any by accident, fear not, it is sweet, citrusy and non-toxic (Leahlani is a clean brand). After application, I left it on for a full ten minutes before rinsing with cool water. The immediate results were insane! My skin felt soft and supple and looked refreshed. I was honestly GOBSMACKED! This is officially my new favorite mask for days when I don’t need to address a breakout (Beautycounter’s Charcoal Mask is my “go-to” for that).

This mask is great for purifying, detoxification, acne, redness, moisturizing, cell turnover, photo-aging, fine lines and wrinkles, and much more!!!

The price of this 1.69 oz jar of magic is $38.00 USD and can be found on their website:

Thanks for stopping by and let me know if you’ve ever tried the Mermaid Mask!

Till next time,

Surviving the Holidays

I don’t know about you but as much as I love this time of year I also dislike the disruption of my healthy habits and schedule. Too much sugar can cause breakouts which really are more annoying during the holidays (family pics???). My new “go-to” product for battling breakouts is the Beautycounter Charcoal Cleansing Bar ($26.00).

Comprised of purifying Japanese binochotan charcoal, organic green tea, and hydrating organic coconut oil this bar can be used on face and body. Right after Christmas I noticed breakouts on my cheek and nose and decided to use my black soap that night. Much to my surprise, the next morning they were gone! I can’t be without this little bar of magic! Oh, what makes it even better is that it is EWG verified! Yay! Victoria Beckham Bitten Lip Tint

So when I heard that Victoria Beckham (LOVE) came out with her own CLEAN beauty brand I was so excited to try some of it. I bought a few things but I will just be reviewing one today. I am obsessed with lip products so it should be no surprise that the first product I tried was the Bitten Lip Tint in the only color available which I would describe as a berry color. As you can see from the photo above, the presentation is GORGEOUS and everything is recyclable. The tube is heavy and looks luxurious! The photo below shows a swatch of the product on my hand. A little streaky!

I really like the applicator because it is slightly slanted. I must however say that I did not like the consistency of the product. It is a stain and does dry down quickly but looks streaky, especially if your lips are dry. At $34.00 I was expecting to be totally WOWED and I wasn’t. So unless you are just a collector I would pass on this product. Stay tuned, I did buy a few others that I really liked! It doesn’t happen often but it is happening now till August 12th. Get your hands on some amazing, clean beauty and personal care products! Here are a few of my favorite skincare products:

Balancing Charcoal MaskThis mask is my weekly “go-to” when I need a good pore cleansing. I promise it works like magic to pull all the impurities from skin and helps shrink pores. Oh, it has a lovely mint scent too! Say SPAAAAAA……

Countersun Mineral Sunscreen LotionI can only speak for myself as someone who has NEVER been able to wear sunscreen without getting a breakout. That is until I tried this! It has a lovely orange scent to it (major plus for wearing on your face!) and blends beautifully into skin. It lightweight and water resistant. Formulated with non-nano zinc and California Poppy. Play safe in the ☀️

Cleansing BalmRemove your makeup and treat yourself to a mini facial with this addicting balm! Packed with vitamin C to brighten the appearance of skin and raspberry and cranberry seed oils to hydrate this multipurpose formula can also be used as a mask. Included with each balm is a muslin cloth which is softer on the skin than traditional washcloths, just a little something extra to optimize the experience of using this cult classic!

I hope you have the chance to try some of these products. If you have a particular skin issue to address, please ask me in the comments for recommendations.

Battle of the Clean Mascaras

Let me start by saying I am fully aware that everyone wants something different from their mascara. I get it. I want something that will POP my lashes and stay put throughout the day. That being said I put two “clean” brands to the test. Fitglow Beauty’s Good Lash Mascara is packed with amazing ingredients (vegan formula) that contains a serum that promotes hair growth and prevent breakage. It is a very wet formulation. This mascara retails at $38.00 U.S.

Here’s a close-up of the pine cone brush. The Beautycounter Volumizing Mascara is made with natural fibers and boasts an increase in lashes by 385% and is gluten-free. This mascara retails at $29.00 U.S.

Here is the close-up of the hourglass brush.

I really like both mascaras quite a bit. Each is unique in what they promise while both give an almost exact look to the lashes when applied (2 coats). Both apply easily and look really nice on the lashes.

Based on my 5 💗 rating I give them the following:

Fitglow Beauty’s Good Lash 💗💗💗💗 1/2

Beautycounter’s Volumizing Mascara 💗💗💗💗💗

The only reasons I knocked off 1/2 of a heart for Fitglow is because of the hefty price point and a little transfer throughout the day.

This decision for you may wind up being personal to you. One being vegan and the other gluten-free.

I purchased my Fitglow mascara at http://www.safeandchic.com you can also find it on their site http://www.fitglowbeauty.com.

Beautycounter’s Volumizing Mascara can be purchased here:https://www.beautycounter.com/gracebissenden?goto=/product/volumizing-mascara

I hope you all found this helpful. If you’ve tried both, let me know your thoughts.

Dark Eyelids Begone!

My foray into clean beauty is an adventure that I truly am LOVING! I heard great things about this brand out if England called Lily Lolo and immediately wanted to give them a try. Sometimes when I am doing my eyeshadow I want extra punch and I find when I use a primer, I get that. My eyelids can get red at times due to allergies and general tiredness so I wanted something that would correct color too. Lily Lolo’s award winning Eye Primer was on my radar because of my needs. The compact (which is adorable by the way) comes with 2 shades. One is a light flesh tone and the other a yellow tone corrector. Both sides are very creamy. The yellow corrector is a not as creamy as the flesh tone but definitely hides red or blue tones your eyes may have. Made with jojoba seed oil, candelillia wax and argania spinosa kernal oil it also has mica, titanium dioxide and iron oxide.

🚫Completely free of GMO’s, talc, additives, harsh chemicals, parabens, gluten, dyes, fillers and lots of other nasty stuff!

I love the consistency and how it makes my eyeshadow pop and stay in place. Available at http://www.safeandchic.com and http://www.lilylolo.us for $15.00 U.S.

My score for this product out of 5 💗’s is a solid 💗💗💗💗💗

What I love: Price-point, formulation, sleek compact, effectiveness.

What I don’t love: I’d like to see it in other flesh-tones.
